At the annual Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies 2021 Summer Meeting Dr. Jennifer Psyllakis, British Columbia’s Ministry of Forest Lands and Natural Resource Operations Director of Wildlife and Habitat, was elected as the President of the organization.

The Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) started in the 1920s as a way for the various wildlife agencies to coordinate and support each other. The organization has an annual summer conference, and this year’s meeting was held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am honoured and humbled to have the support of the Western Directors to serve as WAFWA President for the next year. It is truly an exciting and important time to continue building a strong organization and advance WAFWA’s accomplishments as we both celebrate its 100th year and look ahead to the future of conservation and the benefits of our collective efforts to ensure healthy fish and wildlife populations and resilient habitats.”

Psyllakis will serve as the president for one year until the elections take place during next year’s summer conference.
