The Great Plains Fish Habitat Partnership (GPFHP) is a public-private partnership focused on conserving and restoring aquatic habitats across the streams and rivers of the Great Plains. This region is home to a wide diversity of aquatic fauna adapted to harsh changes in temperature and water availability. Habitat loss in the Great Plains is driven by fragmentation, land use changes, water diversion, and invasive species.

The GPFHP works collaboratively across 13 states within the watersheds of the Missouri River, Souris River and Red River of the North, and Arkansas River and Red River of the South. The partners of the GPFHP use strategic collaboration to direct resources toward the highest-priority conservation opportunities across the region.

The GPFHP was recognized as a National Fish Habitat Partnership in 2009 and became an Initiative of the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies in 2026. The mission of the GPFHP is to innovatively and strategically work together to conserve aquatic resources of rivers and streams throughout the prairies of the central U.S. while promoting sustainable natural, community, and industry uses
